As a sperm donor with us, you’ll always know how many families you’re helping

At Born, we have clear boundaries and guidelines so you know exactly what you’re agreeing to. 

We take the time to get to know you so that you receive the support and guidance you need. At the same time, we have set limits on the number of families you can help. This means that sperm donation with us is conducted responsibly and properly—with consideration for both you and the prospective families.

What is a sperm bank

Global family limits at Born

Most countries have their own rules regarding how many families a donor may assist. However, there is no international legislation preventing a donor from assisting families in multiple countries. This means that a donor can, for example, assist 10 families in one country and 15 in another.
 
At Born, we have therefore established clear, global family limits that apply across all countries. This means that you always have a global limit of either 25 or 75 families—regardless of where in the world the donations are used.
 
We have had global family limits from the very beginning because we believe in responsible sperm donation, and because we believe it is our responsibility to provide clarity and peace of mind—both for you, the donor, and for the families you help create.

Recently, we traveled across the country to hear your thoughts and preconceptions about sperm donation. The goal was to break down taboos and foster greater understanding of both sperm donors and the families struggling to become parents.

This confirmed one thing in particular for us: There is a need for more openness, honesty, and information about sperm donation.

That is why we are completely transparent about our policies and guidelines. For us, responsibility means providing peace of mind for you as a donor and transparency for the families you help—as well as for the people who are conceived through donation.

Why 25 and 75 families?

We have set our limits at a maximum of 25 and 75 families to ensure that we remain well below 100 families worldwide.
 
This allows more families to benefit from your donations, but always within a clear and regulated framework.
 
When you become a donor with us, we take the time to explain what these boundaries mean in practice and how we ensure they are always respected.
